The Geopark Promotion Department of Beautiful Izu Creation Center will invite local residents to attend an open lecture from its geoguide training course on Sunday, January 8, 2023. This will be the first time in five years, since 2017, that one of these lectures will be open to the public, and the first time it will be held on a large scale in a hall.
The lecturer will be Tetsuo Owada, professor emeritus at Shizuoka University, who will give a lecture on the history of the Warring States period in the Izu Peninsula. A total of 30 students are enrolled on this year's geoguide training course, and 170 other members of the public will be invited to the lecture, which will be held in the Shuzenji Hall.
The geoguide training course is held once every two years to train geoguides to show visitors around Izu Peninsula Geopark. This year, the course consists of 25 lectures and 7 fieldworks. One of the 25 lectures has now been designated as a public lecture.
