Butsugenji Temple

  • Monument to tsunami victims of the Great Kanto Earthquake that struck the area during the Taisho Period (1912-1926).

The temple has two towers dedicated to the souls of the victims of earthquake and tsunami. One of them marks the Genroku Earthquake of 1703, while the other one marks the Great Kanto Earthquake that occurred in 1923.
Originally located elsewhere, the towers were moved to Butsugenji Temple due to demands of construction work and other reasons.
