Joyama

  • Landform of the volcanic neck, and the surrounding landscape

Mt. Joyama, a modest mountain in Nakaizu Kita area, is a ‘volcanic neck’.

Deep inside a volcano, there are ‘paths’ through which the magma flows. When these ‘paths’ are raised as outcrops due to crustal upliftment or other mechanisms, they are called ‘volcanic necks’.

Mt. Joyama, which is popular for its peculiar craggy slopes, is a “volcanic neck” that once supplied magma of a submarine volcano.
