Lava flow of Osezaki Volcano and the South Osezaki Volcanic Conduit

On the west coast of the Osezaki Geosite, visitors can see layers of lava emitted by Osezaki Volcano and a cross-section of the South Osezaki Volcanic Conduit.

A volcanic conduit is a path of magma located directly under the crater showing (with the marks of its subsequent erosion) that lava repeatedly erupted from the magmatic dyke in the center and flowed out of it.

The same phenomenon can be observed in volcanoes in Izu Oshima and other places around Izu, but the South Osezaki Volcanic Conduit is one of the most beautiful natural specimens of this mechanism.
