“Geo Literature Cafe” to be Held in Yugashima on Saturday, August 27

The Izu Peninsula Geopark and Tourism Bureau will hold a "Geo Literature Café” on the 3rd floor "Amajio", the Amagi Yugashima Civic Activity Center. The "Geo Literature Café" is a talk event where panels will talk about literature works related to the Izu Peninsula, including masterpieces of Japan's modern literary, as one of the significant resources of Geoparks. The former Izu Peninsula Geopark Promotion Council launched this event in 2018, and this is the fifth time.

　This year's theme, "Men of the Mountain Pass- a Stunning Revival," is based on the previous "Geo Literature Café” held at the same venue in 2019, and will propose a new perspective on the relationship between Geoparks and literature.
This event is consonant with the renewal of the exhibition at the Izu Peninsula Geopark Amagi Visitor Center in July this year. Linkage between geography and literature is commonly underlying theme.
Speakers are Hiroo Ando, a Geo Guide who used to be a teacher of national language and literature for decades in his hometown; Kayo Tokuyama, the curator of the Yasushi Inoue Literary Museum (Nagaizumi-cho); and Shyuji Tsuji, the prime research fellow of the Izu Peninsula Geopark.

After the talk, a walk event will be held for those who wish to stroll the neighbouring Yugashima area recalling memories of great writers.
