Izu Peninsula Geopark and Tourism Bureau (Chairperson: Takeshi Toyooka), in cooperation with the Shizuoka Hot Spring Association, will host Geo Cafe "Tough Hot Springs – On Community Baths" in Ito.
The aim is to highlight the community baths that are deeply connected to the history and culture of Ito, promoting their appeal to a wider audience.
The event will be divided into three parts, held in the morning and afternoon, at Oka Hotei Community Bath.
Intro: The Story of Ito Onsen from a geographical and historical perspective
Workshop: How to take attractive pictures, using the motif of community baths
Talk session: "Viva community baths! Let's take a peek at their long-standing appeal!"
In addition to talks by Kaoru Iwamoto, author of books about hot springs, and Hiromitsu Mushiaki, head of Oka area, there will be various talks and other support from people related to Ito Hot Springs, full-time researchers from Izu Peninsula Geopark, geoguides, and others.
Geo Cafe "Tough Hot Springs” features different hot spring resorts on the Izu Peninsula each time, discussing things about hot spring resorts that cannot be learned just by going there. This will be the sixth time the event has been held.
