Cross-section of the Sukumoyama Volcano scoria cone; layer of volcanic ash from Chojagahara Volcano
Sukumoyama Volcano which last erupted 131,000 years ago, is a part of the northernmost part of the the Izu Tobu Volcano Group. This mountain is a part of a chain that includes the Chojagahara and Takatsukayama Volcanoes.
Cross sections of the scoria are visible on some of the cliffs that were cut open to construct roads.
Tourists can enjoy a 360 degree panorama of the surrounding landscapes from the summit of Sukumoyama.
